Selective Harmonic Elimination Dedicated to a Single-Phase Inverter Supplied by a Photovoltaic System
This study investigates the impact of temperature and solar irradiance variations on the performance of a single-phase inverter-based photovoltaic (PV) system, comparing two architectures: with and without energy storage integration. Environmental fluctuations significantly influence PV system efficiency and energy output, posing challenges for consistent energy delivery. The results demonstrate that integrating a battery for energy storage enhances system performance under fluctuating conditions. This integration reduces energy losses during peak irradiance, stabilizes output during periods of low sunlight or temperature-induced inefficiencies, and improves overall system reliability. This paper introduces an innovative solar PV/battery energy system featuring a modified single-phase inverter topology with a Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE) control strategy. A bidirectional converter efficiently manages power flow, optimizing battery utilization. The inverter converts DC power from the PV array and battery into AC power suitable for load applications. MATLAB Simulink simulations validate the proposed system's performance across various scenarios, highlighting its effectiveness in ensuring a reliable and stable energy supply, particularly in regions with variable solar conditions.
