Enhancing Photovoltaic System Efficiency: A Comparative Analysis of Perturb&Oserve and Fuzzy Logic-based MPPT Techniques Under Uniform Conditions

Several maximum PowerPoint Tracking (MPPT) techniques have been developed to ensure that photovoltaic (PV) systems operate at their maximum efficiency. Among these, is the Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm. However, despite its ease of implementation and simple structure, it has inherent algorithm limitations that affect its performance. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a fuzzy logic-based control (FLC) approach that tracks the maximum power point (MPP). a comparison between the two methods was conducted using MATLAB Simulink with 1Soltech 1STH-215-P Module under uniform conditions; the obtained results reveal that the fuzzy logic technique outperforms the P&O method in terms of efficiency.
