A Ku-Band Multiple Beamforming 4x SIW-Based Slot Antenna Array
This paper presents a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) based slot antenna array consisting of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4\times 8$</tex> elements operating in the Ku-Band (14.0 GHz -14.5 GHz). The phased array antenna is fed by four channel RXlTX Ku-band beamformer IC. A high gain while maintaining low side lobe levels through specific positioning of the slots is achieved. The proposed design achieves a scanning range of ±35° with a maximum gain of 19 dBi and a side lobe level of less than -10dB. The scanning is attained through a reduced number of phase shifters, which subsequently decreases the overall cost. Measured beamwidth for the array is 25° and 21° in E-plane and H-plane, respectively.
