Fault Detection Based on the Parity Space Approach for Neutral Time Delay Systems

A Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) scheme for discrete neutral time-delay systems is introduced, designed for effective fault detection and isolation. This approach addresses the unique characteristics of neutral delays by employing a time-delay operator, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\Delta$</tex>, which captures the effects of both the delayed state and its derivative. Residuals are derived by recursively applying the system equations within a parity space framework, providing a robust basis for fault detection. Additionally, a generalized residual set is developed by leveraging the redundancy in the parity space, allowing for comprehensive fault detection and isolation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a numerical example.
