Ergonomic Smart Gloves Made on Textile for Tactile Force Sensing

In this study, we developed a force-sensing glove system capable of measuring real-time hand forces during everyday tasks and providing immediate feedback to the user. The system comprises gloves equipped with strategically positioned tactile sensors and utilizes a radio-frequency (RF) module for wireless data transmission. A novel calibration method was introduced, specifically tailored for dynamic calibration, to account for force measurements in natural and varied environments. A suite of algorithms was implemented to deliver accurate feedback on hand performance under typical working conditions, thereby enabling the prediction and prevention of potential accidents. Validation tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the system in monitoring hand performance in real-world settings, measuring the force in Newtons (N) applied to individual fingers. The accompanying software allows for the adjustment of sensor settings and optimizes sensitivity for specific application needs.
