On Functional Interval Observer Design for Fault Estimation of Discrete-Time Linear Parameter Varying Systems

An interval fault estimation methodology for Linear Parameter Variable (LPV) systems with uncertainties and actuator faults is presented in this paper. Firstly, an augmented system is defined using state augmentation method. Secondly, an <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$L_{\infty}$</tex> technique is introduced to minimise the effects of uncertainties and to enhance the estimation precision. The observer design conditions are expressed in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). Then, the envelopes of the fault can be determined using the obtained state estimation. Finally, a simulation studies is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
