Design and Analysis of a High-Efficiency Printed Log Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) Antenna for UWB Applications

This paper presents the design, simulation, analysis, and testing of a printed Log Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) antenna tailored for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) applications. The antenna operates over a wide frequency range of 3 – 10 GHz, ensuring consistent performance across the entire bandwidth. Fabricated on FR-4 microstrip substrate with a relative permittivity of 4.4 and a thickness of 1.6 mm, the antenna exhibits linear polarization, high efficiency, and moderate gain. Simulations were performed using CST Microwave Studio software. The antenna achieves a maximum gain of 6.785 dBi, radiation efficiency of up to 78.5%, and a minimum VSWR of 1.02. With its compact size, stable radiation characteristics, and high efficiency, this antenna is a promising candidate for UWB applications.
