Numerical Considerations in the Reconstruction of Sunspot Numbers from ADF: A Precision Update

Abstract In this note, we revisit the use of the polynomial expression published by V. M. S. Carrasco et al. to estimate the sunspot number from the active day fraction (ADF). While the original article presented rounded coefficients of the polynomial equation for readability, we note that the use of these rounded coefficients can lead to a slight overestimation of the sunspot number values, especially at high ADF values (reaching ∼2%).
