Thermal State of the Working Blade of a High-Pressure Turbine

A technology is developed for thermal tests of components by calorimetry in a liquid-metal thermostat, taking account of the following factors: the nonsteady initial stage of cooling; the influence of heat leakage on the metal’s solid crust; and the overheating of the metal melt on initial solidification. The basic working blade of a high-pressure turbine is considered, as well as its modifications. The thermohydraulic characteristics of these designs are determined by means of thermal tests. The optimal system for intensifying the blade’s heat transfer is selected on the basis of the requirements regarding efficient cooling and heat transmission.

Abstract

A technology is developed for thermal tests of components by calorimetry in a liquid-metal thermostat, taking account of the following factors: the nonsteady initial stage of cooling; the influence of heat leakage on the metal’s solid crust; and the overheating of the metal melt on initial solidification. The basic working blade of a high-pressure turbine is considered, as well as its modifications. The thermohydraulic characteristics of these designs are determined by means of thermal tests. The optimal system for intensifying the blade’s heat transfer is selected on the basis of the requirements regarding efficient cooling and heat transmission.
