Financial literacy: cross-country analysis between Brazil and the Slovak Republic

This article compares the financial literacy of Brazilian and Slavic 15-year-olds. The methodology uses data from PISA 2018, applying a multiple linear regression with the determinants of financial literacy for the OECD. The results show differences in financial literacy between male and female adolescents. Financial literacy favors male students over female students, in both Brazil and the Slovak Republic. The variables that influence the formation of financial literacy have heterogeneous impacts only on Brazilian students. The financial education developed in schools is twice as significant for boys, while the influence exerted by the mother's educational level only interferes with girls.
