Integration of Time-Lapse Saturation Logging and 4D Seismic to Successfully Monitor Waterflood Performance in Chalk Reservoir
Summary The Halfdan oil field in Danish North Sea Central Graben was discovered in 1998 and has been developed since 1999 through line drive water flood with alternating long, parallel horizontal production and injection wells in low permeability Upper Cretaceous Chalk reservoir. Time lapse saturation logs were acquired along monitoring well and 4D seismic survey at field level to assess vertical and pore sweep efficiency through the life of field thus evaluating performance of water flooding. The current paper depicts the integration of these monitoring data at three different time steps till date helps to successfully understand the performance of existing reservoir management strategy which indicates progress of waterflood front both vertically and laterally over time.
