Research on cluster structures and giant resonances of atomic nuclei with the EQMD model

The extended quantum molecular dynamics (EQMD) model is an enhanced version of the traditional quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) model. It improves the description of the nuclear ground state by optimizing the initialization algorithm, introducing the Pauli potential, dynamic wave packet width, and acquiring the capability to describe α clusters in nuclei. As a transport model, it can also describe nucleon-nucleon correlations, collective flow, and fragmentation phenomena. In recent years, this model has been extensively applied to studies of nuclear cluster structure, giant resonance phenomena, and the identification of experimental observables. Meanwhile, the model has been continuously refined, with advancements including the incorporation of the photonuclear process, the direct photon emission mechanism, soft potential parameters, magnetic field potential, short-range correlation potential, and more. This article introduces and reviews these developments, providing a brief summary and outlook.
