RATIONAL USE OF MEDICINES IN THE TREATMENT OF ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES (Literature review)
This article reviews the literature on the rationality of using drugs in elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases. Because the treatment of elderly patients has a number of features due to physiological changes that change the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. The vast majority of elderly patients have cardiovascular diseases and other concomitant pathology, and associated polypharmacy. Polypharmacy leads to the development of adverse drug reactions caused by drug interactions. The evidence and effectiveness of many drugs are described in numerous clinical studies, but, unfortunately, the vast majority do not study them in elderly patients, since they continue to be excluded from them. And this article provides recommendations for assessing the effectiveness and safety of drugs in the treatment of coronary heart disease and arterial hypertension, as well as reducing the development of side effects in this category of patients based on the results of the data analysis.
