INCISED WOUND ON THE NECK (INSTANCES OF PRACTICE)

A unique case of S.J., a patient born in 1983 who received a serious criminal injury to his neck, is described. After spending four days in a car without medical attention, food, or water, his condition was significantly worsened. The wound, a horizontal knife cut about 8 centimeters long and 5 centimeters deep, was located in the middle third of his anterior neck. It was accompanied by a partial separation of the larynx, with the posterior wall remaining intact. Despite the severe injury, the patient's breathing continued through a partially opened trachea. Primary surgical treatment of the wound took place, and antibiotic therapy was administered due to the infected wound. Conservative treatment was also prescribed to maintain the patient's general condition (hydration, anemia correction) for 10 days. After the wound was cleaned of free pus and granulations appeared, it was decided to proceed with surgical treatment. This case illustrates the difficulty in diagnosing and treating such injuries, and the stages of the surgical procedure are described below.
