RISK FACTORS OF ISCHEMIC STROKE (Literature review)
In modern medicine, one of the main urgent problems in the field of neurology and cerebrovascular pathology is an increase in the number of cases of acute cerebrovascular accident (stroke). Risk factors leading to the development of stroke are divided into two main categories: modifiable (correctable) and unmodified (non-correctable). Modifiable risk factors are factors that can be influenced and their condition can be changed. Unmodified factors, on the contrary, are not amenable to change. The targeted effect on the elimination of the main modifiable risk factors significantly reduces the likelihood of acute cerebrovascular accident. Effective management of modifiable risk factors is not only an important aspect in stroke prevention, but also a significant step in reducing the overall burden on the healthcare system. Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability and mortality, which causes significant social and economic losses. Scientific research emphasizes that a systematic approach to stroke prevention should include not only medical measures, but also active public education about risk factors and methods of their control.
