EPIDEMIOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE SPREAD OF ENTEROBIASIS IN THE KURSK REGION

This article presents an analysis of the epidemiological situation on contact-induced helminthiasis in the Kursk Region from 2014 to 2023. The novelty of the study is in the fact that the results expand the understanding of regional features of the epidemic process in contact-induced helminthiasis and can serve as a scientific basis for improving the system of epidemiological surveillance and prevention of these infections in the Kursk Region. The research materials were record data of parasitic diseases in the Kursk Region posted by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) in official public sources. Using descriptive and diagnostic analysis methods, the incidence of various types of contact-induced helminthiases, such as enterobiasis and hymenolepiasis, was analyzed. The research results revealed that there was a decrease in the overall incidence of contact-induced helminthiasis in the region during the study period. The incidence of contact-induced helminthiasis is dominated by enterobiasis. Hymenolepiasis has not been officially recorded in the Kursk Region in the last ten years. The main population susceptible to the disease is children under the age of 14. Significant incidence fluctuations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic were found. Municipalities in the Kursk Region were identified where the regional average incidence rate of enterobiasis was most often exceeded. The conclusions of the study are that it is necessary to strengthen preventive measures aimed at reducing the incidence of contact-induced helminthiasis, especially among children.
