Genome-wide cataloging and orthology analysis of long noncoding RNA expression in three species of Anopheles mosquito
The genes in the vicinity of differentially expressed, conserved lncRNAs were found to be involved in critical pathways such as nuclear structure, chromatin remodelling, protein and RNA metabolism, and cell cycle in each of these species. Future studies on these lncRNAs can provide useful insights into how these functions control sexually-dimorphic physiological phenomena such as host-seeking and biting behaviour of female mosquitoes, blood meal metabolism, reproductive behaviour, and disease-carrying capacity.
