Atypical Presentation of a Thyroglossal Duct Cyst with Extension into Oropharynx, Supraglottis and Hypopharynx Mimicking a Laryngocele

Introduction: Thyroglossal duct cysts (TGDCs) are the foremost common congenital neck masses in the neck and are predominantly found within the pediatric population.A TGDC is especially difficult to diagnose when it presents in an unusual manner. Here, we report a rare case of TGDC extending to the oropharynx, supraglottis and hypopharynx Patient concerns: A 58-year-old male presented with a history of neck mass since childhood, presented to hospital as he developed dysphagia and difficulty in breathing.Diagnosis: The final pathologic diagnosis was a TGDC.Interventions: Sistrunk operation was performed.Outcomes: Recurrence of the disease has not been seen for the past year.Clinical significance: Importance of the TGDC in the neck with extensions into the supraglottis, oropharynx and hypopharynx is important for an accurate diagnosis and the appropriate management as it can mimic a laryngocele as in our case.
