THE SECOND MANIFESTATION OF ARTERIAL DISEASE AND THE LEVEL OF PENTRAXIN-3 IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND CARDIOVASCULAR PATHOLOGY
Aim: to study the concentration of pentraxin-3 and the 10-year risk of death based on the Second manifestation of arterial disease (SMART) scale in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and cardiovascular pathology. To compare these indicators in patients with cardiovascular diseases without rheumatoid arthritis. To determine whether there are correlations between the concentration of pentraxin-3 and the parameters of the SMART scale in the studied groups of patients. Materials and methods: the study included 134 patients with RA and cardiovascular pathology (ischemia heart disease, arterial hypertension). 122 patients with cardiovascular pathology without RA were selected as a control group. A comparative analysis of standard laboratory tests, as well as the level of pentraxin-3, was carried out. The 10-year risk of death was assessed based on the SMART scale. A regression analysis of this scale with the level of petnthraxin-3 was performed. Results: the study group showed poorer lipidogram parameters and increased levels of pentraxin-3 compared with patients without RA. Patients with RA have a significantly higher 10-year risk of death compared to patients without RA: 24% and 10%, respectively (p=0.001). A statistically significant association of pentraxin-3 with the SMART scale was determined. Conclusions: patients with RA and cardiovascular pathology have a significantly high risk of mortality, which indicates the need for more careful monitoring of lipidogram parameters and activity of the underlying disease. It is possible that pentraxin-3 may act as a «target» in patients with RA and cardiovascular pathology. Additional research is needed to confirm this hypothesis.
