Analysis of the Importance of Regional Capacity Factors for Sustainable Development in Coastal Area

This study evaluates the relative importance of key factors for strengthening regional capacity to achieve sustainable development in coastal areas. Based on existing studies on regional revitalization in Korea, six categories of capital, including physical, cultural, financial, institutional, social, and human, were refined into four primary factors and 16 sub-criteria. These were systematically analyzed using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with input from experts. The results highlight the critical importance of preserving and strategically utilizing natural and cultural-historical resources. Operational transparency and conflict management systems are essential for fostering trust and collaboration among stakeholders. Additionally, capacity assessments and tailored project strategies are vital to address local needs effectively. These findings emphasize the role of local leadership and resident participation in creating integrated approaches to regional capacity building. Using AHP analysis, this study evaluates regional capacity factors and proposes actionable improvements for coastal revitalization projects, offering essential data for strategic planning.
