Ultralight, Unidirectional Moisture Drainage, Skin-Like Nanofiber Aerogel for Personal Moisture and Health Management
Unidirectional moisture drainage materials play a significant role in humidity management for human skin and enhancing comfort. However, most reported materials primarily focus on improving the unidirectional moisture drainage ability and involve complex fabrication processes. In this study, a three-dimensional fluffy, ultra-lightweight skin-like nanofiber aerogel with unidirectional moisture drainage and filtration capabilities was developed through a simple and efficient strategy, aiming to enhance human comfort and health. By accelerating the phase separation process of spinning solution under high-humidity conditions, the fluffy and porous nanofiber aerogel prepared by electrospinning has better permeability than the nanofiber membrane prepared under normal humidity conditions; enhances the adsorption, storage, and release of water vapor; and efficiently promotes the humidity levels of the human body. The unique spatial structure of the three-dimensional fluffy nanofiber aerogel results in an air permeability of 55.64 mm/s, a water absorption of 1712.12%, and even a filtration efficiency of 99.98% for PM0.3. Through simple patterned spray coating, the nanofiber aerogel not only reduces adhesion to the skin under high humidity but also strengthens sweat conduction through its skin-like structural water channels, demonstrating efficient skin humidity management. The designed three-dimensional fluffy nanofiber aerogel has opened up avenues for the design of humidity management aerogels for the human body and has been found to achieve near-ideal results in enhancing humidity balance and overall health.
