Design of a system for evaluating the detection capability of radar system
In urban environments, radar systems often encounter challenges due to diffraction and reflection phenomena caused by walls and other obstacles affecting the electromagnetic waves emitted by the radar. To address this issue, we have developed a wireless signal transmission simulation system designed to generate target signals with varying distances and reflection intensities for evaluating the detection accuracy of radar systems. The system is based on the DE10-Standard FPGA, which performs AM modulation of the carrier wave and modulating wave to produce direct-path output signals. The direct-path signals are then processed through amplitude attenuation, time delay, and phase shift to simulate multipath output signals. After undergoing digital-to-analog conversion via the AD9910 chip, the signals pass through programmable gain and programmable attenuation stages before being combined into a composite signal using an adder. By adjusting the time delay, the system can simulate different distances between targets and the radar. Adjusting the signal amplitude simulates targets with varying reflection intensities, while combining amplitude attenuation ranges and phase changes further replicates complex interference scenarios in realworld environments. Testing has shown that the system achieves fast and accurate signal transmission, with a relative measurement error absolute value not exceeding 2%. Additionally, the system demonstrates high reliability, stable functionality, and excellent human-machine interaction, providing a robust solution for radar performance evaluation.
