EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL E CONHECIMENTO TRADICIONAL: UMA REVISÃO SOBRE A PESCA DE PEIXES ORNAMENTAIS NA AMAZÔNIA E SUA ABORDAGEM NO ENSINO DE CIÊNCIAS
The Brazilian Amazon is home to one of the richest arrays of aquatic species on the planet, a factor that plays a key role in enabling the local population to directly interact with the local ecosystem. Even in regions such as Amazonas, where a large portion of the population is engaged in these activities, schools often tend to ignore or minimize the value of such knowledge. This creates a concerning disconnect: the curriculum follows a logic that is detached from the territory, which often weakens the bond between students and the school content. This work aims to bring meaning to these discussions through a literature review that allows a closer look at ornamental fish fishing in the Amazon, with special focus on the role of piabeiros (ornamental fish gatherers) in the light of transversal themes. The central idea is to understand how this practice has been addressed in academic research, particularly in studies that relate to environmental education and the appreciation of traditional knowledge.Based on this review, the goal is to map out what has already been produced, identify gaps, and possibly suggest new directions—paths that bring scientific knowledge closer to local experiences, allowing schools to view the territory not as a mere backdrop, but as an active part of the teaching and learning process.
