An Ultra-Compact Wideband-Linearized Power Amplifier Achieving 0.24° AM-PM Distortion and Supporting 64-/256-/1024-/4096-QAM
Power amplifiers (PAs) with compact area and wideband linearization are in high demand in modern wireless communications, such as 5G mm-wave communications [1]. A large number of transceiver channels are integrated into phased array systems in 5G mm-wave communications to enable flexible beam scanning and efficient transmission, which intensifies the need for chip compactness. Moreover, to achieve multi-Gb/s data rates, 5G mm-wave systems employ spectrum-efficient modulation schemes, such as high-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) with high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) [1]–[3]. This places even stricter demands on the bandwidth and linearity of PAs to ensure high-quality signal amplification.
