Velocity Distribution of Gas-Solid Two-Phase Flow in Boron Combustion by PIV Measurement
In order to study the combustion characteristics of different phases of boron, optical measurement techniques are applied to boron based fuel combustion measurements in this paper. This article conducted a boron powder gas-solid two-phase combustion experiment based on a burner and built a high-frequency PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system. Both gas and solid phases velocities were obtained by selecting suitable tracer particles and image analysis methods. The impact of the gas-solid ratio on the gas-solid velocity field was investigated using experimental data, and the variations in two-phase velocities under identical conditions were contrasted. The findings indicate that vortices will develop on either side of the gas-phase flow field, while the fluid motion of solid-phase basically aligns with the mainstream. As the gas-solid ratio increases, the gas-phase velocity initially rises before subsequently declining. Under the same operating conditions, the variation curve of the gas-phase velocity shows a bimodal pattern, while the velocity of the solid-phase only has a single peak at the conical region's exit.
