Mainlobe Deceptive Jamming Mitigation Through Transceiver Design With MDC Radar

In complex electromagnetic environment, deceptive jamming, especially those mainlobe rapidly-generated jamming signals pose a significant threat to radar systems. To address this issue, a Multi-Domain Coding (MDC) scheme with the optimized transceiver architecture is investigated in this paper to suppress mainlobe deceptive jamming signals. At the configuration stage, the Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) waveforms are transmitted and encoded in the spatial, slow-time, and fast-time domains. At the receiver, the received signals are separated based on the modulated Doppler frequency. In this regard, in order to solve the problem of waveform misalignment caused by high-speed moving targets, an approach to determine the misalignment coefficient is proposed according to beamforming energy differences. In addition, a dual-phase compensation method is developed to distinguish the false targets through transmit spatial frequencies. Additionally, to address the problem of performance degradation due to Direction of Arrive (DOA) errors, an optimization problem aiming to maximize the output Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) is formulated. To solve this, an Maximum Block Improvement (MBI)-based alternating algorithm is employed to optimize the transmit parameters and receive filter. Simulations results demonstrate the superiority of MDC scheme with optimized parameters in suppressing mainlobe deceptive jamming signals in the presence of DOA errors over radar framework counterparts.
