Exploratory factor analysis of secondary school Islamic Education Teacher self-assessment Instrument: A pilot study

The study was conducted to proceed and establish the reliability of the Secondary School Islamic Education Teacher Self-Assessment Instrument (SSIET-SAI) to generate a self-assessment indicator for Islamic Education Teacher (IET). 150 IET from the District of Hulu Langat, Selangor in Malaysia participated with a 5-yielded high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.99 in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results for all constructs showed significant correlations and acceptable KMO values, confirming the appropriateness of factor analysis from Bartlett's Test of Sphericity and the KMO Test. The 17 factors with eigenvalues greater than 1 were deemed suitable for factor analysis with a total average variance contribution of 65.60 percent, explaining significant variance across the constructs. After varimax rotation, six items from the original constructs were removed. Ultimately, 177 items remained, and factor analysis indicated that the generated self-assessment indicators comprised 16 factors with four main constructs, which are Sustainability of Knowledge Reflection, Teaching Reflection, Introspection of Humanity, and Continuous Professional Development.
