Validity evidence of Thinking About Live Experience Questionnaire for the Brazilian context

Abstract The present study aimed to test the psychometric parameters of the Thinking About Live Experience Questionnaire (TALE) in a sample of the Brazilian population. For this purpose, a convenience sample of 315 participants (female: 69.52%) aged between 18 and 71 from the five Brazilian regions was selected. The instruments used were the sociodemographic data questionnaire and the TALE. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to verify the structure of the TALE, which indicated a good fit for the tested models. The scale also presented good reliability in all its factors: Self Function (α=0.79; ω=0.80), Social Function (α=0.82; ω=0.82), and Directive Function (α=0.76; ω=0.76). The results demonstrated good psychometric adequacy of the TALE for the Brazilian context to assess the functions of autobiographical memory.
