Institutional analysis and development framework applied to Brazilian mutual credit guarantee societies
Abstract This study aimed to apply the concepts of the Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) Framework to Brazilian mutual credit guarantee societies (SGC). They are organizations that facilitate access to credit for small businesses through risk sharing. They are created and managed collectively, with peculiar characteristics, and adapted to their territories, like common goods. Exploratory and descriptive method was used to deepen the reality of SGC, bibliographical research in secondary sources, to carry the concepts of the IAD Framework and in primary sources to capture the SGC’s day-to-day. This reality was confronted with IAD Framework which tested SGC’s common good characteristics. It was concluded that the tool is adequate for studying SGC. The framework proved robust, allowing to examinate details of these attributes, and providing a deep reflection on the SGC’s management and reality.
