STUDY OF THERAPEUTIC FACTORS OF SAMARA PROVINCE IN THE SCIENTIFIC WORKS OF J.B. UKKE

The article analyzes the pioneering work of Samara doctor Y.B. Ukke on the study of natural-climatic and medicinal factors of Samara province within the framework of attempts to combat tuberculosis in the mid-19th century. The problem of providing mass assistance to patients with this disease was extremely urgent due to the high morbidity and mortality rate against the background of lack of understanding of the nature of the disease, methods of its diagnosis and treatment. In his works, Y.B. Ukke presented in detail to the general public an advanced for its time and effective method of tuberculosis treatment, accessible to various strata of society, and, in fact, anticipated the basic principles of modern sanatorium-resort treatment of pulmonary pathology.
