The tendency to take risks in medicine: factors and prevention of adverse outcomes
The study focuses on the impact of risk aptitude on health professionals’ professional behaviour and related outcomes. High levels of risk appetite increase the likelihood of deviations from standard protocols, which can lead to adverse patient outcomes. Key factors including stress, burnout and the experience of professionals are analysed. Prevention measures such as developing a culture of safety, implementing reporting systems and psychological support programmes are suggested. These strategies aim to reduce risky behaviour and improve overall safety in medical practice.
