Exploring the Relationships Among Transformational Leadership, Teacher Retention, Communication and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour
ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to understand the mediating roles of communication and organisational citizenship behaviour in the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher retention. Based on 537 valid responses, this study identified that transformational leadership directly affects teacher retention, while communication and organisational citizenship behaviour positively mediate their relationship. The study suggests that principals should promote communication and organisational citizenship behaviour within schools to improve teachers' intention to stay in schools. Theoretical and practical significance is discussed for facilitating research and educational practices related to this topic.
