Conjunctival microbiota of premature infants and its antibiotic resistance
The main cause of postoperative inflammatory reactions are pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, antimicrobial therapy is necessary to prevent infectious complications after ophthalmic surgery treatment, including intravitreal injections. To effectively select an antibacterial drug, it is necessary to know the exact species composition of the conjunctival microbiota of premature infants. However, information about their natural microbiota is very limited.
