Analysis of phagocytic activity of leukocytes in children with community-acquired pneumonia
Phagocytic activity of leukocytes (PAL) is a laboratory indicator that represents the percentage of neutrophils and monocytes capable of binding to pathogenic microflora and digesting it. PAL reflects the body’s ability to effectively fight bacterial infection. This indicator is expected to increase against the background of acute infectious diseases. With a decrease in immunity due to chronic diseases, PAL decreases. The authors’ goal was to study the feasibility of using PAL of whole blood in patients with community-acquired pneumonia in pediatric practice.
