Development and validation of a technique for determining the titer of pseudorabies (Aujeszky disease) virus on Vero (B) cell culture
Pseudorabies (Aujeszky’s disease) virus Suid herpesvirus 1 (SuHV-1) belongs to the species of viruses of the genus Varicellovirus of the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae within the family Herpesviridae, and is capable of causing damage to the central nervous system and other organs (including the respiratory tract) in almost all mammals, except humans and tailless monkeys. A technique aimed at determining the titer of the virus in a cell culture is necessary for quality control at various stages of biotechnological production, for instance, at the end of the stage of viral purification of biotechnological products/by-products or when conducting quality control tests for medicines.
