EFICÁCIA DA PRETOMANIDA EM PACIENTES COM TUBERCULOSE PULMONAR MULTIDROGA RESISTENTES, UMA REVISÃO NARRATIVA
Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the leading causes of death from infectious diseases caused by a single infectious agent worldwide. Drug-susceptible tuberculosis, and especially drug-resistant tuberculosis, including multidrug-resistant (MDR), represents a significant public health challenge and an urgent need for new treatment strategies. The aim of the study was to review the role of pretomanid in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis in patients infected with multidrug-resistant bacteria, through a narrative review. The search for references in this qualitative study was carried out in PubMed and BVS. Pretomanid (PA) is an important advance, being derived from nitroimidazole, with potent bactericidal and bacteriostatic activity, oral bicyclic. The drug demonstrates lower incidence of adverse effects, reduced liver toxicity, good tissue absorption, and shortening of treatment time in patients with multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. Continued research and the development of new treatments are essential to achieve global control of tuberculosis and reduce the suffering caused by this disease.
