Analysis of factors affecting EV switching in India
This research investigates the multifaceted factors influencing electric vehicle (EV) adoption among consumers in India. The study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the challenges, trends, and attitudes shaping the transition towards electric mobility in the region. The research methodology employs a combination of surveys, interviews, and data analysis to gather insights from a diverse demographic of non-EV owners.Key factors explored include charging infrastructure availability, consumer perceptions, spare part accessibility, car type variety, delivery time, government policies, cost considerations, battery life and costs, and operational expenses.Findings reveal variety of attitudes and considerations among potential EV adopters. While environmental concerns and lower operational costs emerge as primary drivers for EV adoption, challenges such as vehicle range, infrastructure gaps, and perceived upfront costs remain significant barriers.Government policies and incentives play a pivotal role in shaping consumer decisions, with clear and consistent policies identified as critical enablers for EV market growth. The study underscores the importance of targeted interventions and strategic initiatives to address consumer concerns, improve infrastructure, and promote awareness about the benefits of electric mobility.Recommendations include expanding charging networks, enhancing battery technology, implementing supportive policies, and fostering public-private collaborations to accelerate EV adoption and contribute to sustainable transportation solutions.Overall, this research contributes to the evolving discourse on electric vehicle adoption, offering valuable insights for industry stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers seeking to understand and navigate the dynamics of the electric mobility landscape in India.
