Effect of hydrophobic surface treatment on corrosion resistance of Fe-Mn-Si memory alloy
Fe-Mn-Si shape memory alloys have poor corrosion resistance due to the low content of corrosion-resistant elements and the tendency to form a two-phase structure. This study investigates the corrosion resistance of Fe-15.5Mn-5.2Si-8.5Cr-5Ni shape memory alloy after pre-straining and surface hydrophobic treatments using both acidic and alkaline processes. The results show that after large deformation pre-straining, the formation of the γ/ε two-phase structure significantly reduces the corrosion resistance. The hydrophobic performance of the samples treated with the acidic process is better than that of the alkaline-treated samples, with a substantial decrease in contact angle, which can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
