CLÍNICA DE TRAUMATISMO DENTÁRIO: CARACTERIZAÇÃO DAS CAUSAS, TIPOS E CONSEQUÊNCIAS DO TRAUMA

Episodes of dental trauma are common in daily life and are regularly observed in dental clinics. Proper diagnosis, planning, and follow-up are essential to ensure a favorable prognosis. The objective of this study was to perform a statistical analysis characterizing the causes, types, and consequences of dental trauma, focusing on clinical data from the Dental Trauma Clinic at UNIGRANRIO. The following data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS, v. 21.0): gender, age, number of teeth affected by trauma, trauma classification, trauma etiology, and the specific teeth involved. The male population shows a higher prevalence of traumatic incidents involving dental structures. The main causal factor is attributed to falls from standing height, with the most notable consequence being uncomplicated crown fractures. Regarding the etiology of the traumas, falls from standing height frequently result in uncomplicated crown fractures affecting teeth 11/21. Even with a smaller sample size, the results were consistent with those of other, more extensive studies.
