"Green" investments in Ukraine's agricultural sector: prospects for sustainable development. Subject and Purpose of the Work.

Purpose of the Work. The article focuses on the role of “green” technologies as a key driver of sustainable development in Ukraine’s agricultural sector through the lens of investment activity. The purpose of the research is to identify the main factors influencing the development of green investments in agriculture, to assess the investment potential of environmentally friendly technologies, and to develop strategic directions for intensifying such investments in the context of Ukraine’s post-crisis recovery and global environmental challenges. Methodology. A combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods was applied. A SWOT analysis was used to systematize the internal and external factors affecting the development of green investments in agriculture. A descriptive analysis was conducted to determine the barriers and opportunities for attracting investments in environmentally sustainable technologies. Tabular modeling was used to present key findings and recommendations in a structured way. The analytical part of the work was based on national statistical data, reports by international organizations, and current scientific publications. Results of the Work. The study identified several restraining factors, such as regulatory instability, insufficient awareness among farmers about green technologies, and limited access to financing. At the same time, opportunities for development were revealed in the areas of bioenergy, organic farming, and digital transformation of the agricultural sector. The SWOT analysis highlighted significant strengths (high agricultural potential, international support) and opportunities (growing demand for organic products, EU Green Deal integration prospects). Strategic directions for intensifying green investments were proposed, including state financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises, attraction of international grants, and the creation of educational platforms to enhance the awareness and competencies of agricultural producers in the field of green technologies. Scope of Application of the Results. The research results can be used by public authorities in formulating investment policies and support programs for green transformation in agriculture. They are also relevant for private investors, international donors, and regional development agencies involved in the sustainable development of rural areas. Additionally, the findings contribute to the academic discourse on the role of innovation and environmental technologies in transforming the agri-food sector toward sustainability and resilience.
