The idea of rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a system of combined and coordinated application of medical, social, pedagogical and professional measures aimed at training and retraining an individual in order to achieve his optimal working capacity. The impetus for the development of rehabilitation as a science was first the First and then the Second World War. Many former military personnel returned from the battlefield with severe injuries, they needed not only to normalize their health indicators, but also to restore their ability to work. The successes of medicine and the sanitary and hygienic service have led to a marked decrease in the mortality rate from acute infectious diseases, focusing on injuries and mutilations, hereditary pathology, allergic diseases, problems with the cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive systems. Individuals who have lost their former skills and ability to work for one reason or another need serious support from the healthcare system and the State as a whole, and this support should be provided comprehensively and on a regular basis.
