THE IMAGERY OF CURSES IN KAZAKH AND TURKISH LANGUAGES AS AN EXPRESSIVE-EMOTIONAL MEANS IN CONVERSATIONAL SPEECH

A curse is one of the oldest and unique genres of Turkic culture. It is based on the belief in the power of words, specifically the conviction that a person who is cursed can be harmed by mystical forces. Since curses are rooted in common cultural memory, they reflect the worldview and way of life of nations, as well as their thinking and character. As a result, these speech acts are influenced by the traditions and moral values of different societies. They relate to historical, mythological, and religious truths, thus falling within the realm of cultural linguistics, which studies the manifestations of cultural elements and social memory in language. Thus, their study at the present stage of development of linguistics is the novelty of this research. The main aim of this article is to analyze curses in Kazakh and Turkish languages, examining their similarities and differences. Additionally, a classification of curses is provided based on their meanings and cultural-linguistic features. To implement it, methods of linguacultural analysis of linguistic facts were used, as well as elements of communicative, comparative and semantic analysis. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were set: analyze 66 curses in the Kazakh language and 63 curses in the Turkish language, classify by purpose and meaning of expressions, compare Kazakh and Turkish curses, identify their similarities and differences. The results presented in the article, the material allowed the authors to conclude that most curses in the Kazakh and Turkish languages have common Turkic roots, which proves the presence of historical connections between the languages. At the same time, the authors come to the conclusion that curses in the Kazakh language are often figurative in nature, containing broad metaphors and comparisons, while the forms of curses in the Turkish language are more specific and often pragmatically oriented.
