Modern Guided Glide Munitions. Use And Lessons From The Conflict In Ukraine

Glide munitions have become a focal point of weapons development in the past two decades.Modern examples provide limited-cost systems with effective stand-off characteristics and the ability to inflict precision strikes.The conflict in Ukraine has showcased the effectiveness of this type of weapon, providing a case study for the examination of its effectiveness, limitations, and future vectors of development.The following paper examines contemporary such systems, as well as their historical role on the battlefield, proceeding further to extrapolate upon their use on the modern battlefield in Ukraine.Finally, the paper discusses the overarching consequences, further evolution, and lessons for the use of guided glide munitions.
