Development and Validation of a Questionnaire to Assess the Use of CPR Board, CPR Stool and CPR Coach during Resuscitation among Physicians in a Low Resource Setting

Abstract Introduction: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a critical emergency procedure that significantly impacts survival during cardiac arrest. The quality of manual chest compressions (MCC) is vital for patient outcomes, and tools such as CPR board, CPR stool, and CPR coach have been shown to enhance MCC effectiveness. However, there is limited data on the knowledge and usage of these tools among physicians, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This study aimed to develop and validate a comprehensive questionnaire to assess knowledge, practices, and challenges related to the use of CPR board, stool, and coach. Materials and Methods: The questionnaire was developed through a multi-step process, including literature review, expert validation, and iterative modifications. The initial questionnaire was reviewed and modified by a panel of experts, followed by content validation using a 4-point rating scale. Content validity index (CVI) and modified Kappa statistics (MKS) were calculated for relevance, clarity, simplicity, and ambiguity. Results: Responses from 10 experts were analyzed, resulting in high content validity with I-CVI values ranging from 0.89 to 1 and MKS consistently between 0.89 and 1. The validated questionnaire comprises 24 questions, designed to evaluate various aspects of CPR practices. Conclusion: The findings will provide insights into the current knowledge and challenges in CPR practices, guiding the development of targeted training programs and resource allocation strategies. This tool represents a significant step toward standardizing CPR practices in India and can contribute to improving CPR quality and guideline development in low-resource settings.
