Short Term Planning of Isolated Industrial Microgrids Using Shapley Value in Cooperative Game Theory for a Fair Allocation of Cost Savings
Unit commitment in IMGs is essential for optimizing operational costs, particularly in systems reliant on CHP systems and boilers to meet electrical and thermal loads. This study presents a short-term planning framework for IMGs, enabling controllers to minimize production costs by addressing the PB-UC problem and coordinating the participation of production units. A game theory approach is utilized to ensure equitable profit distribution among independent DER owners. Simulation results from a microgrid with 14 independently owned factories show that 90.48 % of the heat load is met through heat recovered from generator losses, significantly decreasing dependence on supplementary heat sources. By optimizing unit commitment, total costs are reduced by $1,638.45, highlighting the economic advantages of strategic cooperation. The formulated optimization problem is a MILP model solved with GAMS, and fair profit allocation is conducted using the Shapley value method in MAT-LAB. This framework enhances overall efficiency and promotes collaboration among factories.
