Passivity-Based Control for Stability Improvement of Distributed Generation Systems with Three-Level Boost Converters
Distributed Generation (DG) units, as independent and small-scale energy sources in distribution networks, play a crucial role in improving the performance of power systems. This paper presents a passivity-based control method for a DG unit that uses a three-level boost converter as a power source. The proposed controller ensures system stability using the concept of passivity. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed method, three scenarios are considered where the load changes, but the system is able to maintain its stability. Moreover, the method can guarantee the global stability of the system without the need for precise knowledge of its parameters. Simulations were conducted using MATLAB Simulink, and the results show that the passivity-based control successfully maintains system stability under varying load conditions. This research can serve as an effective approach to improve the performance and stability of DG systems in microgrids and energy distribution networks.
