Optimal Day-Ahead Scheduling of Active Distribution System Considering Distributed Energy Resources and Energy Hubs

The proposed work presents a bi-level optimization framework based on an iterative approach for the scheduling of an active distribution system considering the exchange of active and reactive power with downstream multi-carrier energy hubs. The aim of this study is to investigate the scheduling of energy hubs and the active distribution system for maximum profit with a reduction in operational costs. In the proposed energy hubs, an ice storage system is used to supply a portion of the cooling power. At the first level of optimization, each energy hub operator provides the active distribution network operator with the optimal strategy by performing self-scheduling for the day-ahead horizon. In the second optimization stage, the optimal scheduling of the active distribution network is implemented within the day-ahead market by receiving the optimal strategy. In the case of testing the performance of the proposed method, the IEEE-33-bus system was considered to be an active distribution system.
