Analysis of a lightweight active optics mirror with a multi-sensor fusion unit
This paper presents a follow-up study on an active mirror for space-based Active Optics. The mirror architecture combines multiple collocated sensor–actuator pairs with conventional optical sensors to enhance both the controllability and observability of shape-and-position control. Wavefront and force sensing units are jointly employed for information fusion. Here, we examine the benefits of operating the active supports both quasi-statically and dynamically, and we evaluate the resulting performance gains enabled by these augmented sensing units.
