Carcinoma de células de transição em vesícula urinária de gato sem raça definida

The aim of this study was to report a case of transitional cell carcinoma in the bladder of a 12-year-old Brazilian mixed breed feline. Transitional cell carcinomas are focal malignant tumors that, when found in the bladder, arise from a transitional epithelium cell as elevated nodules or diffuse thickenings of the urinary wall. The diagnosis is only considered definitive after histopathological analysis because common clinical signs of this neoplasm, such as hematuria, urinary frequency and dysuria, are also common in lower urinary tract diseases, so both conditions may be confused. In the present study, the ultrasound examination resulted in an image in the bladder compatible with neoplasia and, after partial cystectomy and histopathological examination, the diagnosis of transitional cell carcinoma was confirmed. The prognosis of this neoplasm is poor and, even after starting chemotherapy treatment, there was tumor recurrence and the animal unfortunately died.
