A ATUAÇÃO DO CREAS NO ENFRENTAMENTO À VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA IDOSOS
Violence against the elderly refers to a multifaceted aspect, which is often underreported, thus, it is necessary to develop intersectoral responses and strategies that are effective for reception, protection and prevention. With this in mind, this work aimed to understand the performance of the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (CREAS) in confronting violence against the elderly. As specific objectives, it sought to learn about aspects of aging; identify the main forms of violence suffered by the elderly; discuss the intervention strategies used by CREAS professionals in confronting violence against the elderly. Through a qualitative and descriptive bibliographic review, it was possible to understand the complexity involved in the contexts of violence, especially those of an intrafamily nature, requiring a more sensitive intervention that is based on rights. It is concluded that the performance of CREAS is extremely important to guarantee the rights and dignity of the elderly in situations of violence. For this action to be consolidated effectively, it is necessary to strengthen public policies, continuous investment in the training of professionals and the construction of a social culture that values aging as a legitimate, active and respected stage of life.
